Who Are You?
The Materials Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of all material-related activities within the shop floor. This role oversees inventory management, shipping and receiving functions, material flow, warehouse operations, production support, and shop floor capacity planning to ensure materials are available to meet customer demands while optimizing inventory levels and operational efficiency.
The Materials Manager will work closely with Production, Purchasing, Engineering, and Logistics teams to maintain uninterrupted manufacturing operations, improve material utilization, and support on-time delivery performance.
What Will You Do?

Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counting programs, physical inventories, and reconciliation processes.

Oversee and control all inventory, including stock in the yard.

Analyze inventory trends, usage patterns, and material requirements to identify opportunities for improvement.

Establish and maintain inventory policies, safety stock levels, reorder points, and inventory KPIs.

Manage excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory reduction initiatives.

Ensure inventory transactions are accurately maintained within inventory management/ERP system.

Lead and supervise all shipping, receiving, warehouse, and material handling activities.

Ensure timely receipt, inspection, and processing of incoming materials and components.

Coordinate outbound shipments to customers and suppliers while ensuring compliance with transportation requirements.

Develop procedures to improve receiving accuracy and shipping performance.

Manage relationships with freight carriers, third-party logistics providers, and transportation partners.

Monitor shipping costs and implement cost-reduction initiatives where appropriate.

Lead, mentor, and develop warehouse, inventory, shipping, receiving, and material planning personnel.

Establish performance metrics and drive accountability for departmental objectives.

Promote lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives (6S).

Identify opportunities to improve material flow, warehouse organization, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.

Participate in cross-functional projects focused on operational excellence and business growth.

Bachelor’s degree or diploma from accredited institution.

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration or related field preferred.

5+ years of experience of progressive experience in supply chain, materials management or shipping/receiving

Lean Green Belt Preferred

Inventory management and warehouse operations expertise.

Production planning and scheduling knowledge.

Capacity planning and resource allocation experience.

Strong understanding of material requirements planning (MRP).

Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
