Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Customs Broker Rater/Clerk to join our logistics and supply chain team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate customs documentation, facilitating smooth import/export processes, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities
- Review and rate customs documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations
- Prepare and process import/export paperwork using systems such as AS400
- Coordinate with freight carriers, customs authorities, and clients to facilitate smooth shipments
- Manage customer relationships by providing timely updates and resolving issues related to customs clearance
- Negotiate terms with carriers and clients to optimize shipping costs and delivery times
- Maintain detailed records of shipments, tariffs, and compliance documentation
- Support inside sales efforts by assisting with B2B communication and account management
- Collaborate with 3PL providers to streamline logistics operations
- Perform data entry tasks accurately within supply chain management systems
- Assist in sales management activities related to freight services and customs brokerage
Skills
- Strong negotiation skills for working with carriers, clients, and regulatory bodies
- Excellent customer relationship management abilities to ensure client satisfaction
- Knowledge of freight operations, supply chain processes, and 3PL logistics solutions
- Experience in account management and B2B sales strategies
- Proficiency in data entry with high accuracy standards
- Familiarity with AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
- Effective communication skills for coordinating across departments and external partners
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently within a fast-paced environment
