Overview
Cole Harbour Place is currently accepting applications for a part time Swimming Instructor position. This position offers a total of 3-20 hours per week from September 8th to December 31st. Monday-Thursday 4pm-7:30pm, Friday 4pm-6:30pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am-12pm.
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicate with children and adults while maintaining a respectful and positive attitude.
- Instructing swimming techniques, strokes and water safety to participants 3 months old to ages 16 years and up.
- Communicate any concerns involving safety with aquatic supervisors.
- Ensure safety of children while they are in lessons by maintaining control over the class.
- Prepare effective lesson plans to ensure a productive class time.
- Complete paperwork associated with teaching swimming lessons including worksheets, midterms, and report cards.
- Assist in tidying the pool deck/staff room before and after lessons.
Qualifications and skills
- Swim for Life certification required
- Intermediate Workplace First Aid required
- Previous experience as an instructor is an asset
- National Lifesaving certification an asset
- Lifesaving Instructor certification an asset
- Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication
- Demonstrates strong customer service skills
- Ability to commit to 2-7 of the 2.5 to 3 hour shifts listed above for a 10 week term.
