Head Chef Duties and Responsibilities
You will manage the daily operations & oversee your staff to ensure that the highest quality of cuisine is served to our guests. This will be done while ensuring that all food and staffing goals are met. A team mindset is crucial in this role. You will work in our open kitchen and use a variety of local ingredients to make and create artisan style dishes primarily using our Forno Bravo Wood Fired Oven
- Direct kitchen operations, including scheduling, food preparation, cooking, and cleanup
- Assign tasks; supervise prep cooks, sous chefs & line cooks in the preparation and presentation of food
- Maintain control of the kitchen to ensure that all tasks are carried out efficiently and effectively
- Resolve issues as they arise so that customers receive their orders in a timely manner
- Make sure that all kitchen and wait staff adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure a clean and sanitary kitchen
- Plan desserts, feature menus and set prices, making adjustments as needed based on the availability of ingredients
- Frequent quality checks of ingredients and plated items to guarantee that the highest quality products are prepared and served to your guests
- Collaborate with the Front of House Manager & Owners to align kitchen operations with the overarching goals of Farmhouse
- Direct inventory
- Maintain and monitor vendor pricing
- Interview, hire & train kitchen staff throughout your employment
- Maintain kitchen equipment; schedule repairs and additional maintenance as needed
Head Chef Requirements and Qualifications
* Experience cooking in a wood fired oven a huge asset
* Degree in culinary arts or a proven passion and performance in the kitchen
Do you have?
- 2+ years of Chef/Kitchen management experience within a full kitchen
- Significant experience as a Chef, with knife skills and culinary knowledge
- Strong attention to detail
- Creativity
- Ability to oversee and manage kitchen operations while maintaining positive culture
- Ability to remain productive when pulled in many different directions
