Position summary
Department / Research Program: Child Health and Research Development (CHHD)
We are seeking a highly motivated, organized and detail-oriented individual to join Dr. Nada Jabado’s research program in pediatric brain tumors. The research assistant will work on a project aiming to develop new liquid biopsy assays to be used to diagnose, stratify and follow cancer patients and patients with cancer predisposition syndromes. They will be directly supervised by the lab manager. They will be required to work as part of our team, while the liquid biopsy project will take up most of their time, they will be expected to periodically assist other staff and trainees with their experiments.
Primary lab duties will include extraction of DNA, RNA and/or protein from biofluids, designing and running liquid biopsy assays using droplet digital PCR and other approaches, and analyzing and interpreting results of those assays. In addition, the employee will participate in the coordination of patient samples, including their transfer from several clinical sites, entering information in our in-house sample database and sharing with collaborating research groups. Lastly, the employee will be in charge of creating, compiling and maintaining documentation related to the patient samples and experiments they will be conducting as well as assisting with the writing of manuscripts describing those experiments.

- Perform laboratory experiments under the direction of the supervisor,
- Help design and plan liquid biopsy assays, write protocols, conduct the experiments ,
- Help manage patient sample database,
- Support other team members as needed,
- Present research results at team meetings,
- Help in the writing of manuscripts describing research results.

Education / Experience
Education: Master's Degree
Field of Study: Life Sciences
Work Experience: 1 year minimum experience in a relevant setting, such as a research or a clinical lab
Required Skills
- This position requires an advanced knowledge of written French.
- An advanced knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English.

Additional information
Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
