Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kennel Assistant to join our team and provide exceptional care for our animals. This role involves maintaining a clean and safe environment, assisting with daily animal care routines, and ensuring a positive experience for both pets and their owners. The ideal candidate is compassionate, reliable, and capable of handling physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting. Prior experience in animal care or customer service is a plus, but we are willing to train motivated individuals who demonstrate a strong work ethic and love for animals.
Responsibilities
- Assist with feeding, watering, and administering medication to animals as directed
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas to maintain hygiene standards
- Monitor animals’ behavior and health, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff or management
- Provide compassionate customer service to pet owners, answering questions and addressing concerns
- Handle heavy lifting tasks related to moving supplies, bedding, or equipment around the facility
- Ensure the safety of animals by following proper handling procedures and safety protocols
- Maintain organized records of animal care activities and daily routines
- Support team members with additional tasks as needed to ensure smooth daily operations
Experience
- Prior experience in animal care, veterinary assistance, or pet grooming is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners and team members
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 50 pounds) as part of daily responsibilities
- Compassionate attitude towards animals and their well-being
- Reliable work ethic with attention to detail and cleanliness
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining patience and professionalism
Pay: $17.85-$25.19 per hour
