The Opportunity
Fisher Wavy Inc. is growing our Concrete Operations team in Thunder Bay and is seeking dependable, safety-focused individuals to join us across a variety of roles within our ready-mix concrete operations. Opportunities may include plant operations, batching, ready-mix truck driving, concrete pumping, dispatch, and general operational support. Whether you bring years of industry experience or are looking to build a career in concrete and construction, you'll be part of a team that plays a vital role in delivering quality concrete products safely and efficiently to projects throughout the region.
Your Day-to-Day
- Depending on the position, responsibilities may include:
- Produce and batch ready-mix concrete using computerized batching systems
- Operate ready-mix trucks and concrete pump trucks safely and efficiently
- Deliver concrete to customer and industrial job sites
- Operate concrete pumps, conveyor systems, chutes, and related equipment
- Assist with loading, unloading, material handling, and general labour activities
- Maintain plant, yard, vehicles, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe condition
- Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and equipment inspections
- Complete delivery tickets, production records, inspection reports, and other required documentation
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, customers, and coworkers
- Assist with scheduling, dispatching, inventory monitoring, and production activities where applicable
- Work in accordance with all internal, client and regulated health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, climbing, crouching, crawling, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Work overtime, evenings, weekends, and occasional out-of-town assignments as required to meet operational demands
- Perform other related duties as assigned
You Are a Good Fit If You Have
Required:
- Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to perform physical work in varying weather conditions
- Valid Class G Driver's Licence (minimum)
Additional Qualifications May Include:
- Valid DZ or AZ Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract and CVOR
- Experience operating Ready-Mix trucks or concrete pump trucks
- Experience operating or batching at a ready-mix plant
- Civil Engineering Technician/Technologist diploma or related education
- Concrete, aggregate, construction, or heavy equipment experience
- Forklift or equipment operating experience
Considered an Asset:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ready-Mix, concrete, or aggregate industry experience
- Mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of concrete production, placement, or pumping operations
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to use tools and equipment as required and qualified
- Ability to perform physical labour and other strenuous physical tasks
- Ability to work as part of a team and a willingness to collaborate on various job duties
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Ability to handle multiple on the go tasks and appropriately prioritize based on operational needs
- Strong communication skills with supervisors, coworkers, and clients
- Ability to adapt to changing job requirements and schedules
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic

*This position is governed by a collective agreement. The pay range posted reflects base compensation under the applicable agreement. Placement within the range is based on experience, qualifications, and union provisions. Benefits and other incentives are offered separately.
