Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team, specializing in the design and development of process equipment. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD, with a strong mechanical background and experience in integrating components and instrumentation, including the design of pressure vessels, for the pharmaceutical, food, and dairy industries.
Responsibilities:
· Design and develop mechanical systems for process equipment, focusing on skidded systems which include piping, tanks, components, and instrumentation.
· Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
· Design skidded assemblies incorporating piping, tanks, components, and instrumentation.
· Design pressure vessels, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
· Interpret and implement ASME Section VIII Division 1, CSA B51, B31-1, B31-3 codes, and other relevant regulations governing the fabrication of pressure vessels, process piping, and miscellaneous fabrication.
· Involved in quality control and compliance practices to meet regulatory and customer requirements for vessels, fabrication, and process piping.
· Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure design specifications and project requirements are met.
· Provide technical support during the fabrication and installation phases, ensuring designs are accurately translated into final products.
· Perform design modifications and optimizations to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall performance.
· Generate and maintain comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, technical drawings, and project reports.
· Assist in material receiving for registered jobs, ensuring all materials meet required specifications and are available for timely project execution.
· Complete design reviews with customers to ensure all requirements and specifications are met.
· Manage project documentation to meet various regulatory or customer requirements for pressure vessels and equipment.
Qualifications and Required Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Technologist Diploma, or a related field.
· Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer, particularly in the design of process equipment.
· Minimum of 3+ years of design engineering experience required. Experience with sanitary stainless steel pressure vessels, process equipment, and fabrication is preferred.
· Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. SolidWorks Certification and experience with PDM are considered assets.
· Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, fabrication processes, and industry standards.
· Experience in the design of pressure vessels and familiarity with applicable codes and standards.
· Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and P&IDs.
· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in design work.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
· Open-minded and receptive to constructive feedback, with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
· Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access).
· Ability to take ownership of tasks and communicate effectively with stakeholders; strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation.
· Enthusiasm for challenges and new initiatives.
· Knowledge of process piping field installation, including pressure vessel applications.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
