Position Title: Kitchener TFC Goalkeeping Coach
Position Summary:
The Kitchener TFC Goalkeeping Coach is responsible for the development and support of goalkeepers within the Kitchener TFC Academy, delivering high-quality training aligned with the club’s player development philosophy. The role involves planning and leading training sessions, providing match support and feedback, and collaborating with technical staff to support goalkeeper integration and progression.
Activities & Duties
Training & Development:
- Plan and deliver high-quality goalkeeper training sessions for players within the Kitchener TFC Academy program.
- Provide technical, tactical, and psychological coaching to enhance goalkeeper performance.
- Develop individualized training plans based on player needs and progression.
- Assist Academy coaches with evaluations for goalkeepers.
Game & Player Support:
- Observe and provide feedback to goalkeepers during training sessions and matches.
- Work closely with head coaches and technical staff to integrate goalkeepers into team tactics.
- Conduct match analysis and video reviews to support goalkeeper development.
Program & Curriculum Development
- Align training methods with Kitchener TFC player development philosophy and methodologies.
- Implement structured progressions for goalkeepers at different developmental stages.
- Stay up to date with modern coaching methodologies and contribute to the continuous evolution of the Kitchener TFC goalkeeper program.
Mentorship & Communication:
- Provide guidance to goalkeepers on goal setting, mindset, and performance preparation.
- Maintain regular communication with players, parents, and coaching staff regarding development plans and progress.
- Foster a positive and supportive training environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Canada Soccer Goalkeeping Diploma (or willingness to obtain).
- Canada Soccer – Soccer for Life (preferred)
- Valid Respect in Sport, Making Ethical Decisions, and Safe Sport certifications (or willingness to obtain).
- Previous experience coaching goalkeepers at the competitive youth level.
- Strong understanding of goalkeeper-specific technical and tactical concepts.
- Knowledge of sports science principles related to goalkeeper training, including strength & conditioning.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical staff, coaches, and parents.
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening required prior to employment.
Reporting & Collaboration:
The Kitchener TFC Goalkeeping Coach reports directly to the Kitchener TFC Club Head Coach. Collaboration also required with the Assistant Academy Director, Coordinator – Competitive Programs, and other club staff as required.
Commitment & Compensation:
- Part-time contract position; training sessions and games (various mornings, evenings and weekends). While this is currently a part-time position, there may be opportunity for the role to transition into a full-time position in the future.
- Compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
