Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Out of School Care Leader to join our vibrant team dedicated to enriching children's lives beyond the classroom. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children during after-school hours. Your leadership will inspire children to explore, learn, and develop new skills through fun and educational activities. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on young learners while fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
This position is Monday-Friday 2:00pm-5:00pm daily. There is potential for additional hours subbing in our early years programs.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver a variety of stimulating activities that promote learning, creativity, and social interaction among children.
- Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and caregivers through effective communication and support.
- Implement age-appropriate tutoring and teaching strategies to assist children with homework and skill development.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment that encourages exploration and fun.
- Monitor children's behavior and provide guidance to promote respectful interactions and conflict resolution.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop program schedules, activities, and special events that meet the diverse needs of children.
Requirements
- Valid First Aid level B with child/infant CPR
- Preference will be given to those who hold a class 5 license or those willing to obtain one.
- Responsible adult course or ECEA certification
- Clear criminal record check
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles and best practices for child development.
- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with children, parents, and team members.
- Ability to create an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and encourages participation.
- A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their growth in a safe setting.
- Relevant certifications or training in childcare or early childhood education are preferred but not mandatory.
