About the role:
We are hiring a Product Engineer. This role encompass costing, providing technical support, and overseeing the production implementation of both standard and 'build to print' products and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Customer Guidance
- Support global customers with clear technical direction and product selection assistance.
- Interpret and explain performance data to help customers make informed decisions.
- Provide guidance on assembly processes, validation testing, and application reviews.
Feasibility & Cost Analysis
- Perform manufacturing feasibility studies and cost analyses for new and existing products.
- Prepare accurate and timely quotations for new programs.
Product Customization & Configuration Management
- Lead product customization activities and manage configuration updates.
- Coordinate prototyping efforts and oversee testing for new products aligned with customer requirements.
Design & Production Support
- Assist in designing tools, fixtures, and equipment that support efficient production assembly.
- Identify and source new vendors, components, and materials for product development.
Project Management
- Establish project tasks, timelines, and deliverables to keep initiatives on schedule.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in project-related meetings.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain departmental quality expectations and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Apply procedures and standards effectively to uphold quality and compliance.
Troubleshooting
- Investigate and resolve production and quality concerns quickly and effectively.
Qualification:
- Post-secondary in Mechanical Engineering field or Engineering Technologist diploma
- Strong program management and leadership experience
- 3-5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment is an asset
- Strong computer skills, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to read 2d prints
- Understanding of BOM, cost structures and labor routings
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface effectively across multiple departments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects.
- Solid understanding of engineering processes related to product maintenance and validation.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
- Knowledge of injection molding, wire/cable processing, crimping, machining, casting, and plating is an asset
