NEW BAR OPENING — JUNE/JULY 2026
We're opening our doors in Calgary this June/July and building the founding service team. Get in on the ground floor.
About Us
Born and bred in Vancouver’s vibrant Mount Pleasant neighborhood, Mount Pleasant Vintage & Provisions is officially making the leap and expanding to Calgary!
We are a cocktail bar disguised as a postmodern thrift shop — part industrial warehouse, part breezy patio, all retro-cool. We pour an ever-rotating list of forward-thinking cocktails, fire up an Argentinian-style wood and charcoal grill, and treat hospitality like it matters. Because it does. We’re thrilled to bring our unique blend of nostalgia and high-energy hospitality to a whole new city.
The Role
We're looking for a Host to be the first face our guests see and the calm at the center of a busy Friday night. You'll set the tone the moment someone walks through the door — warm, confident, and quick on your feet. No prior experience is required; we'll teach you the floor. We just need someone who genuinely likes people and can keep their cool when the waitlist is 45 minutes deep.
What You'll Do
- Set the Tone: Greet every guest warmly like they're walking into your living room (a very cool living room) and provide menus.
- Manage the Flow: Run the reservation book, walk-in waitlist, and floor plan — keeping servers' sections balanced and the door moving smoothly.
- Command the Door: Quote accurate wait times, answer the "what kind of place is this?" question with charm, and handle the phones or in-person inquiries.
- Support the Squad: Be a team player who pitches in — bussing a table, running a water, grabbing a coat — without being asked to keep the room in sync.
- Maintain the Vibe: Keep the host station clean, organized, and looking sharp while assisting in maintaining the overall ambiance of the venue.
Who You Are
- A People Person: Warm, articulate, and completely unflappable under pressure when the lobby gets busy.
- Organized: You can hold a reservation book, a waitlist, and three conversations in your head at once.
- Detail-Oriented: Focused on the small stuff — a clean menu, an accurate wait quote, and remembering a guest's name the second time they come in.
- Available Nights & Weekends: Most shifts are Wednesday through Sunday, 4 PM to close.
- 18+ (Required to clear and handle alcohol at the door in Alberta).
Required
- Valid ProServe certification before your first shift (or willingness to get it before day one).
Nice to Have
- Previous experience as a host, server, or in a customer-facing hospitality role.
- Familiarity with reservation platforms (OpenTable, Resy, Tock, SevenRooms).
- An interest in cocktails, wine, or food — curiosity goes a long way here.
What We Offer
- $18-22/hr depending on experience, plus a share of the house tip pool.
- A team that actually likes each other, and managers who have your back.
- 50% off your meal when you work, plus a generous staff discount on your nights off.
- Real training — on the floor, on the reservation tech, and on hospitality as a craft.
- Room to grow into Server, Bartender, or leadership roles as they open up.
Benefits
- Flexible schedule
- Work Location: In person
