Overview
Rock Iron Contracting is seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Representative to assist our organization's safety initiatives within a Construction environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs that ensure a safe workplace for all employees that comply with all legislated requirements. This role requires strong leadership skills, a thorough understanding of construction safety standards, and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety and compliance. The Health & Safety Representative will play a critical role in reducing workplace incidents and promoting best practices across all departments.
Duties
- Develop, implement, and oversee health and safety policies aligned with legislation and company standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OHS and other regulatory requirements.
- Attend and lead incident investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Conduct workplace inspections on all active worksites weekly
- Coordinate emergency response planning, drills, and training sessions for staff at all levels.
- Provide ongoing training and development programs focused on safety procedures, proper equipment use, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with management to integrate safety considerations into operational processes and product development.
- Maintain detailed records of safety activities, incident reports, training sessions, and compliance documentation.
- Stay current on industry best practices, legal requirements, and emerging safety trends to continuously improve safety protocols.
- Conduct new hire / annual orientations
- Lead maintenance and recertification audits to ACSA standards
- Maintain 3rd party statistics and prequalification's
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in civil construction safety
- Hold an NCSO or higher designation
- Must hold a valid auditor certification
- Demonstrated ability in training & development related to health and safety practices.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence positive safety behaviors across teams.
- Strong analytical skills for conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and compliance audits.
- Effective communication skills to clearly convey safety policies and foster a culture of awareness.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
This position offers an opportunity for a flexibility work structure between on-site, in office and work from home activities. The successful candidate must be available during working hours to respond and attend work place incidents.
Pay: From $30.00 per hour
