Children and Youth Programs Coordinator
Feels Like Home Newcomers – Surrey, BC
Feels Like Home Newcomers (FLHN), a growing community-based nonprofit in Surrey, is seeking a Children and Youth Programs Coordinator to support and grow our programs for children ages 0–12.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will create, lead, and grow programs that support positive child and youth development, while mentoring volunteers and supporting program staff. You will play an important role in creating welcoming, engaging environments where newcomer children and youth can build confidence, connection, and a sense of belonging.
You do not need prior nonprofit experience. What matters most is your energy, creativity, flexibility, confidence and commitment to helping children and youth thrive.
About Our Programs
Building Blocks (Ages 0–5)
Supports early childhood development through play-based learning, language development, and social connection.
School’s Out Afterschool Program and Summer Camps (Ages 6–12)
Provides engaging and educational activities, homework and language support and friendship-building opportunities in a fun and empowering environment.
Shelter Outreach Support
Helps newcomer families access resources and connect with community programs.
All FLHN programs create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where children and youth build confidence, connection, and meaningful experiences.
What You Will Do
- With the support of staff members, create, lead, and develop engaging activities that promote healthy child and youth development for afterschool and summer camp programs
- Supervise children and youth in a safe, structured, and welcoming environment
- Onboard, mentor, and support volunteers across programs, ensuring they feel welcomed, prepared, and engaged
- Oversee and support program staff, providing guidance, coordination, and day-to-day leadership
- Plan program schedules and activities
- Manage program supplies, purchasing, and logistics (vehicle required)
- Maintain attendance records and communicate with families
- Work closely with the Co-directors to strengthen and grow FLHN programs
- Support outreach initiatives that help newcomer families connect with community programs
Hybrid Schedule
Onsite Monday to Friday for summer camp season. Onsite Tuesdays and Thursdays through the school year with flexible remote work and meetings.

Qualifications
- Experience working with children ages 0–12 and/or youth
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Comfortable mentoring and supporting volunteers
- Energetic, flexible, and community-minded
- Creative and able to take initiative
- Administrative skills (Microsoft 365, Canva, Adobe, or willingness to learn)
- Reliable vehicle with space for program supplies
- Current First Aid & CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening
- Proficiency in English (additional languages are an asset)

Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
