Little Heartprints Academy is a nurturing daycare inspired by Montessori and Reggio educational philosophies. We are dedicated to providing individualized programming for children aged 19 months to 4.5 years, fostering their growth and development in a supportive environment.
Summary
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Temporary Full-Time (19-Month Contract) with the ability to extend offer if positions are available. Toddler teacher to join our team at Little Heartprints Academy.
Responsibilities
- Experience: Design and implement open-ended, inquiry-based provocations and Montessori-inspired activities.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a calm, purposeful, and nurturing classroom atmosphere using positive guidance strategies.
- Documentation: Observe and document children’s learning journeys (pedagogical documentation) to share with families.
- Small Group Leadership: Provide individualized attention to a consistent group of 9 students, ensuring their social, emotional, and cognitive needs are met.
- Team member: Demonstrates strong communication skills and works collaboratively alongside other teachers. Supports a positive team environment by being flexible, respectful, dependable, and willing to contribute wherever needed.
- Observe and assess children's progress, adapting teaching methods to meet individual needs.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's development and daily activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom that promotes learning and exploration.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Certification: Valid Alberta Child Care Certificate Level 1, 2 or 3 (formerly Child Development Supervisor) is strongly preferred.
- Experience: Proven experience in a lead teaching role with strong classroom management skills.
- Philosophy: Familiarity with or a deep interest in Reggio Emilia and Montessori methodologies.
- Clearance: Current Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Skills: Excellent communication skills and a collaborative "team-player" mindset.
Benefits will be available for staff after 3 months of work.
Starting wage: $19-$23/ hour (negotiable depending on experience and skill level)
Eligible for Wage top up from the Alberta Government with a Childcare certificate. Here is a link to the information:
