Position Summary
The Recreation Therapist / Volunteer Coordinator plans, delivers, evaluates, and documents recreation therapy programs that support residents’ physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual well-being. This full-time temporary 18-month role also coordinates the volunteer program, including recruitment, orientation, scheduling, support, and recognition. Working closely with residents, families, volunteers, team members, and community partners, this position helps create meaningful opportunities for engagement, inclusion, and connection each day.

Role Summary
Recreation Therapy
· Assess resident recreation needs, interests, strengths, abilities, and goals in collaboration with residents, families, and the care team.
· Plan, facilitate, evaluate, and document individual and group recreation therapy programs that support physical, cognitive, emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual well-being.
· Support resident choice, independence, dignity, inclusion, and meaningful engagement through creative, person-centred programming.
· Coordinate special events, outings, seasonal celebrations, community connections, and program materials in a safe and welcoming environment.
Volunteer Coordination
· Coordinate volunteer recruitment, orientation, placement, scheduling, communication, records, ongoing support, and recognition.
· Match volunteers with meaningful opportunities that support resident needs, program goals, volunteer interests, and organizational requirements.
· Maintain accurate volunteer information, schedules, statistics, and related documentation.
· Build positive relationships with residents, families, volunteers, team members, schools, and community partners to strengthen engagement and connection.
Qualifications
· Diploma or degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, Gerontology required.
· Membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) required.
· Minimum two years’ recreation programming or recreation therapy experience; continuing care experience is an asset.
· Volunteer coordination, community partnership, event, or group program experience is an asset.
· Strong assessment, planning, facilitation, communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
· Comfort using Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
· Clear criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening, required.

Pay: $31.98-$45.56 per hour
