Join a collaborative laboratory team where accuracy, quality, and safety drive everything we do. As a Laboratory Technician / Sample Coordinator in our Burlington, Ontario laboratory, you'll play an important role in supporting materials testing operations through concrete cylinder testing, sample coordination, and quality-focused laboratory practices. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on professional who enjoys a fast-paced environment and wants to contribute to projects that help build and maintain communities across Ontario.
- Perform concrete cylinder testing in accordance with applicable industry standards and laboratory procedures to support quality construction outcomes.
- Generate accurate and reliable testing data that supports engineering evaluations, project compliance, and client reporting.
- Coordinate the receiving, logging, labeling, tracking, storage, and organization of laboratory samples across multiple material types.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff, field personnel, and project teams to ensure samples are processed efficiently and priorities are met.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration schedules, and housekeeping standards to support safe and effective operations.
- Support quality management initiatives, audits, and continuous improvement activities within the laboratory environment.
- Identify and communicate discrepancies, testing issues, and non-conformances to support quality and operational excellence.
- Contribute to a strong safety culture by following established health and safety procedures and promoting safe work practices.
- 1 to 5 years of experience working in a laboratory environment, ideally with concrete materials testing experience.
- Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Materials Testing, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of CSA, ASTM, and other standardized laboratory testing procedures.
- CCIL Concrete Laboratory Certification is considered an asset but is not required.
- Experience managing samples, documentation, and laboratory workflow in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with accurate data entry capabilities.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and organize samples weighing up to approximately 40 lbs.
- Valid driver's license considered an asset, along with a demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality.
