Position Overview:
Reporting to the AVP, Credit and Market Risk, the Credit and Market Risk Analyst is responsible for supporting the firm’s risk management framework by analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on market and credit risks guaranteeing accuracy and integrity. Working collaboratively with both internal and external business partners, the Analyst will identify, assess, and mitigate potential market and credit risk breaches. Their expertise will help drive continuous improvement in risk processes, supporting CIBC Mellon's commitment to prudent risk management and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation and ongoing oversight of market and credit risk management methodologies, ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of risk controls and processes. Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance risk oversight.
- Ensure all market and credit risk management activities are conducted in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies. Stay informed on regulatory changes and support the integration of new requirements into risk practices.
- Administer the process of credit reviews for Treasury activities including credit limits monitoring, coordination, and reporting.
- Assist in the ongoing monitoring and analysis of investment portfolios to identify emerging risks, control gaps, or deviations from established risk appetite. Collaborate with relevant teams to recommend and implement corrective actions.
- Support the preparation and delivery of quarterly Credit Policy administration materials for the Board and senior management review.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to internal market and credit risk limits.
- Assist in the preparation, review, and reconciliation of securities lending reports and other risk-related deliverables. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of risk data and escalate discrepancies as appropriate.
- Clearly communicate risk findings, analysis, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in risk management, treasury risk, or a related field, including exposure to credit risk, market risk, interest rate risk, or liquidity risk.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Business, or another relevant discipline.
- Progress toward or completion of a professional designation such as CFA, FRM, CSC, or another relevant investment- or risk-related credential is considered an asset.
- Solid understanding of credit and market risk concepts, including risk measurement, monitoring, reporting, and limit management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess data, identify issues, and support risk-based recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders at multiple levels.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with risk reporting tools or financial systems is an asset.

Job Specific Competencies:
- The salary band for this position ranges between $70,000 - $110,000.
- Individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, market conditions, relevant experience, education, training, and internal equity.
