Main Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
- Develop, optimize, and evaluate formulations for powders, tablets, capsules, and liquid products to meet customer, regulatory, manufacturing, and cost requirements.
- Conduct formulation benchwork, physical testing, sensory evaluations, and product stability assessments as required.
- Perform pilot-scale trials and support process scale-up and manufacturing validation.
- Investigate formulation, manufacturing, and product quality issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including Master Formulas, Manufacturing Instructions, Material Evaluation Forms (MEFs), technical reports, and production support documents.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Regulatory Affairs, Sales, Production, and external suppliers throughout the product development process.
- Create calculation sheet for potency adjustment in production.
- Lead assigned development projects from concept through commercialization, ensuring timelines and deliverables are achieved.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members when appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to improve formulation performance, product quality, and cost competitiveness.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Strong technical knowledge of formulation development and natural health products.
- Self-motivated and the ability to work independently while maintaining accountability for project timelines.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Ability to proactively identify risks, recommend solutions, and drive projects forward.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
- Ability to work with deadlines and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, mathematical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg as required.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nutrition, or a related scientific discipline is preferred. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
- Experience in formulation development within the Natural Health Products, pharmaceutical, food, or nutraceutical industry.
- Hands-on experience with powder blends, tablets, capsules, and/or liquid formulations is preferred.
- Experience with flavor development or sensory evaluation is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and applicable Natural Health Product regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with SAP, BatchMaster, Genesis, or similar ERP/formulation management systems is considered an asset.
Salary Range: $55,000 to $65,000 per year
