Description
The Technical Business Analyst in this role will support multiple projects across our Wealth Advisory and Funds domains throughout the entire project lifecycle. In this role, you will bridge the gap between business strategy and technical execution, translating abstract business needs into granular technical requirements, user stories, and system documentation. Working closely with Solution Architects, Product Owners, and engineering teams, you will ensure solutions meet business objectives while maintaining technical integrity from design through to post-release steady state.
Responsibilities

Requirements & Architecture Translation: Partner with business stakeholders and the Solution Architect to translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical specifications (API contracts, data mapping, and system workflows).

Data & API Mapping: Document API inputs/outputs, map data conversions, and map complex data points for source-to-destination systems, intermediary systems, and input/output files.

System & Data Lineage: Proactively trace, document, and analyze end-to-end data flows across disparate legacy and modern systems to identify integration gaps and improve system interoperability.

Data Validation: Write SQL queries and data validation scripts to analyze procedures, validate assumptions, and verify data integrity across systems.

Agile Backlog Management: Create clear, actionable Jira stories and tasks for technical teams. Ensure every story includes happy path scenarios, failure conditions, boundary conditions, and robust acceptance criteria.

Release & Operations Support: Author technical documentation, including new/updated runbooks, steady-state user guides, and release support documentation. Collaborate with the Change Management team to ensure smooth feature deployments.
Testing & Quality Assurance: Formulate testing matrices and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to guarantee seamless trade processing and zero market disruption.

Must-Have Skills & Qualifications

Technical Analysis: Proven ability to synthesize abstract business workflows into granular technical specs (REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML).

Data & Integration: Strong proficiency in SQL Server for data analysis and validation. Deep understanding of integration protocols, ideally including FIX Protocol (for trade execution pipelines) and secure file transfer mechanisms (SFTP).

Hybrid Infrastructure: Experience working across legacy on-premise systems and modern, cloud-native SaaS platforms (AWS or GCP).

SDLC & Documentation: Thorough knowledge of modern SDLC methodologies (Agile/Scrum) and a proven track record in professional technical writing.

Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-Have Skills & Domain Knowledge

Industry Platforms: Familiarity with wealth management and portfolio modeling systems (e.g., StateStreet, Dataphile, PureWealth, Multiview, etc.).

Development Literacy: Conceptual knowledge of software development languages and enterprise platforms (.NET, JavaScript, Java, Salesforce) to better collaborate with engineering teams.

Domain Expertise: Advanced comprehension of the Canadian wealth and asset management landscape, including straight-through processing (STP) for equities, fixed income, derivatives, and pooled fund structures.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematical Finance, or a related quantitative field.

Professional certifications: CBAP, CSPO / PSPO, or CFA Level 1 (or local Canadian securities certifications like CSC/CPH).
