Job Summary
(Rural Renewal Stream employer) We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Food Counter Attendant to join our Dairy Queen team. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service while preparing and serving food and beverages in a fast-paced restaurant environment. This position requires the ability to work efficiently, maintain food safety standards, and contribute to a clean and welcoming restaurant.
Duties
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Take customer orders accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Prepare and serve Dairy Queen menu items, including burgers, chicken products, fries, salads, ice cream treats, Blizzard® treats, cakes, beverages, and other menu items.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, microwaves, beverage dispensers, and ice cream machines.
- Portion, assemble, wrap, and package food orders for dine-in, take-out, and delivery.
- Receive customer payments and process cash, debit, and credit card transactions.
- Replenish food, condiments, packaging materials, and beverage supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of food preparation areas, counters, dining areas, equipment, and utensils.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety procedures.
- Assist with opening, closing, stocking, and general restaurant cleaning duties.
- Work cooperatively with team members to provide efficient customer service during busy periods.
Requirements
- Prior food service experience or restaurant background is preferred but not mandatory; a strong willingness to learn is essential.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, food safety standards, and sanitation practices.
- Experience with cashiering systems, particularly Micros POS or similar platforms.
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude and strong communication abilities.
- Ability to handle cash accurately, perform basic math calculations quickly, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Kitchen or food industry experience is a plus; familiarity with serving in fast-paced environments is highly valued.
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks during peak hours while maintaining high-quality service.
- A proactive approach to upselling menu items to enhance guest satisfaction and sales performance.
