Responsibilities
- Follow written and oral instructions from Yardmaster and daily Switch list
- Operate Trackmobile in a safe and efficient manner
- Use radio communication to control Switch movement
- On the ground traffic control
- Wear PPE and observe Health & Safety policies and procedures at all times
- Ensuring safety is a priority to self, fellow workers, and the general public
- Raises coupling levers to couple or uncouple cars
- Throws track switches to facilitate movement of cars and signals
- Climbs ladder to top of car and turns handwheel to set brakes or to control the speed of the car when moving
- Ties handbrakes
- Connects airhoses to cars by bending and applying up to 35lbs of force
- Inspect railcars
- Safe forklift operation
Qualifications
- Rail Car Mover Certification
- CSA approved steel toed boots required
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Physically fit and able to perform required duties
- Ability to effectively communicate instructions, directions, processes, procedures, safety rules and regulations to co-workers, supervisors, and others in written, oral, diagrammatic and schedule form
- Ability to talk to and effectively communicate with co-workers, yard personnel, switching crew, railroad officials and others in a clear, concise, courteous, efficient and professional manner
- Attention to details and ability to plan ahead
- Must be 18 years or older and pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and Fit for Duty exam.
- Work schedule is Monday - Friday 1:30pm - 12:00am
