North York Seniors Centre provides programs and services to promote the physical, emotional and social well-being of adults 55+ living in our diverse community. As a Home-Helper with NYSC, your role is to provide exceptional service to clients in their homes, supporting them in maintaining their independence.
This position reports to the Supervisor, In-Home Services.
Responsibilities:·
- Provide housekeeping for clients in their home including (but not limited to) sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning kitchen/bathroom, mopping floors, laundry and meal preparation·
- Provide companionship and support the well-being of clients·
- Report any changes observed in clients to the In-Home Supervisor·
- Attend monthly in-service meetings and education sessions as required ·
- Follow Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS:
Education: Diploma/education in a related field (e.g., social services, gerontology, developmental services) or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in home care or community
Fluent in English and other languages considered an asset (Russian, Polish,
Chinese, Korean, Farsi)
Other: Maintain a high standard of client-centered care
Ability to work in both Community and Assisted Living settings
Comfortable travelling to and from clients’ homes throughout the day
Strong communication, written skills, and the ability to problem-solve
Physically able to perform housekeeping tasks
Participate in continuous quality improvement processes
Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification(Level C)
Proof of a vulnerable sector screening check completed within the last 6 months
Valid driver's license and car available, an asset
