Overview:
As Controller/Senior Financial Leader for a family run business in the construction, manufacturing and supply industry, you will play a pivotal role in driving the financial strategy and ensuring the financial health of the company. Reporting directly to the President / Owner, you will oversee all financial activities and provide strategic guidance to senior management. Your responsibilities will encompass financial planning, analysis, reporting, and budgeting, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and implementing financial best practices within the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy Development:
Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company's overall objectives and growth plans.
Provide insights and recommendations to optimize financial performance and drive profitability within the manufacturing and supply business segment.
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A):
Lead the annual budgeting process, including revenue forecasting, expense planning, and capital expenditure projections in various companies within the group.
Conduct comprehensive financial analysis to evaluate business performance, identify trends, and forecast future financial outcomes.
Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor financial metrics and provide actionable insights to support decision-making.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry-specific requirements for the manufacturing and supply business sector.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and reviews, addressing any findings and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Cash Flow Management and Treasury Operations:
Manage cash flow and liquidity to support operational needs and strategic initiatives, optimizing working capital efficiency.
Monitor banking relationships and cash management activities, including debt financing, investment strategies, and foreign exchange risk management.
Financial Systems and Process Improvement:
Evaluate and enhance financial systems, processes, and controls to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and mitigate risks.
Implement technology solutions and automation tools to enhance financial reporting accuracy and accelerate decision-making processes.
Team Leadership and Development:
Build and lead a high-performing finance team, providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the leadership team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
Proven experience (10 years) in a senior financial leadership role, preferably within the construction or building materials industry.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
Demonstrated leadership ability, with a track record of driving results, managing change, and developing talent within a dynamic business environment.
