The primary focus of the QSSE Manager is to develop, implement and manage the Company’s Safety and Security programs. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- The Quality, Safety & Environmental (QSSE) Manager is responsible for oversight and assurance of required safety initiatives at the assigned stations with a specific focus on the review of existing and proposed ground handling and safety policies, procedures and actions, along with identifying threats, adverse trends, risks, hazards and best practices in order to ensure the continuous improvement of the SMS.
- Conduct quality and compliance observations for verification of ground safety activities and initiatives including employee safety performance monitoring, adherence to SOPs; vehicle, aircraft, and other ground service equipment reviews.
- Promote corporate standards for safety, security, occupational health and safety.
- Act as designated investigator of safety incidents/accidents where required.
- Assist the station management team in the identification of corrective or preventive actions to address audit findings.
- Oversee the administration of safety incident reports and non-compliance activities ensuring all management are effectively trained and able to identify and resolve workplace hazards.
- Identify, remove, and reduce hazards and risks.
- Maintain and adhere to policy that ensures compliance with all safety, quality and environmental internal and external requirements.
- Deliver initial and refresher trainings to operations team members and all new hires.
- Conduct site risk assessments to ensure risks are identified.
- Report every safety incident /accident / near miss in Samsic QSSE online tool.
- Root cause analysis process and a corrective action plan process.
- Check and evaluate effectiveness of corrective action plans put in place.
- Develop preventive actions to avoid future occurrences.
- Ensure compliance with applicable governmental regulations. Maintain required recordkeeping documents as required, ensure timely reporting.
- Conducts inspections where required.
- Drive site sustainability targets.
- Implement and drive continuous improvement plans and strategies with the Management to ensure related KPIs are tracked and measured on a regular basis.
- Ability to work with employees and achieve safety cultural progression, maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree, preferably in Occupational Safety and Health, or related field experience.
- 3+ years of safety management experience, preferably in airport ramp environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships and facilitate learning.
- Public speaking skills.
- Proficiency with computer applications and Microsoft products.
- Bilingual.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
- Determines Airports Safety, processes, procedures, tools, roles and responsibilities and metrics.
- Manages the retention of: Accident/Incident information involving Aircraft damage/Ground Service Equipment damage and near miss details - Employee injury statistics.
- Manages Airports internal/external Quality Program(s) in order to monitor compliance with, as applicable: Transport Canada Regulations and Standards, Similar foreign regulatory agency regulations and requirements.
