Position: Classroom Lead
Rate: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour commensurate with experience
Status: Full-time, 8:30 AM-3:00 PM, Tuesday-Friday, plus prep time September-June with potential for more hours if desired, Min. 1 Year Commitment
Start Date: September 8th, 2026 (with some prep/training before)

ABOUT US:
Founded in 2017, Gateway Behaviour Services is a local family-owned-and-operated practice in Prince George, BC, that specializes in providing Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy to meet the diverse needs of autistic children ages 0-18 years.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Gateway Learning Centre is an alternative K-12 education program tailored to children with autism. With small class sizes (max. 6 students), low student-to-staff ratios (1:3), highly trained staff, and individualized curricula aligned with the BC Ministry of Education competencies, we cater to each student’s unique needs. Our mission is to equip students with essential skills for success both within and beyond the classroom. We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic individual to prepare and teach educational programs with an emphasis on functional skills in our Elementary Classroom (Grades 3-6). The ideal candidate will be passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of the families we serve.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with our on-site Learning Centre Administrator / Board Certified Behaviour Analyst and off-site BC Certified Teacher, the Classroom Lead is primarily responsible for:
- Preparing and teaching engaging lesson plans that effectively cater to the students’ unique needs
- Monitoring and recording student progress and behaviour
- Collaborating with the Online Learning School (OLS) and team members
- Participating in Individual Education Plan (IEP) and support meetings
- Maintaining an optimal learning environment by appropriately managing student behaviour and classroom dynamics and implementing behaviour interventions as directed
- Facilitating community engagement and classroom events
- Contributing to a positive and team-based work culture
- Completing initial and ongoing training
- Performing other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Age 19+
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- High School Diploma or GED; Education in Psychology, Behaviour Analysis, Special Education, or related field is preferred
- Experience with children and/or individuals with diverse abilities
- Strong communication, interpersonal, time-management, and organizational skills
- Engaging and able to build rapport with children
- Patience, empathy, and responsiveness to students’ needs
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Physically capable of performing job duties (e.g., sitting on the floor, kneeling, squatting, running, lifting)
