FTE: Full Time – Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (occasional weekends)
Start Date: Mid-August
Season: Year-round – Souper Stars (September – June); Tummy Tamers (July – August)
Compensation: Living wage salary and excellent benefits
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Souper Stars is CKP’s school-based nutrition and life skills program, delivering eight weekly sessions to nearly 50 Calgary area classrooms each year (September–June), with a goal of reaching 70 by Fall 2027. Tummy Tamers is the summer partner program (July–August), providing nourishing snacks to school-aged children (Grades 4 - 5) through free summer camps and day centre programs — ensuring kids who rely on school-based food programs are supported year-round.
DUTIES
● Facilitate the Souper Stars eight-session curriculum at participating schools (2–3 one-hour classes per day)
● Collaborate with program leads on curriculum and material development for the program.
● Prepare and transport daily snacks and teaching supplies to all program sites.
● Create and maintain teaching schedules; manage supply ordering and documentation.
● Deliver snacks to Tummy Tamers summer camp and day centre sites (July–August).
● Represent CKP at donor events, cheque presentations, and occasional public speaking engagements.
● Participate in fundraisers and support other CKP programs and errands as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
● Education: Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma or equivalent; post-secondary in nutrition, health education, or recreation is an asset.
● Experience: Minimum one year working with children or youth; classroom facilitation or group instruction experience is an asset.
● Certifications: Valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (required). First Aid Level B and CPR Level HCP (required or willingness to obtain). Valid Alberta Driver’s License in good standing (required). (Vehicles provided for program travel).
● Skills: Strong communicator and classroom presence; organized across multiple sites and schedules; adaptable across both program seasons; collaborative team player with genuine commitment to food security and youth well-being.
