Smart Aviation Maintenance Solutions (AMS) is an MRO located in Toronto, St. Thomas and Barrie, Ottawa Ontario as well as worldwide mobile repair teams. Smart AMS provides component repair and maintenance on several different types of aircraft from business to transport category aircraft.
Job Summary:
Support the maintenance team on a wide range of regular and ad-hoc initiatives, including coordinating the return to service of aircraft during AOG events and actual hands-on support.
Roles and responsibilities include:
- Work with the Director of Maintenance to schedule and manage manpower for various projects and scheduled work.
- Monitor and assist AME’s and Apprentice daily tasks to maximize efficiency.
- Review AME’s and Apprentice time sheets for approval
- Review and ensure AME’s are closing task cards in a timely manner.
- Participate in Company Health and Safety committee and meetings.
- Participate in our Internal safety management system (SMS) and take an active role in investigations and closing of occurrences. Including identifying risks and planning mitigating actions to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Monitor workforce levels and adjust for workload as required.
- Work with Director of Maintenance to identify tooling needs.
- Work with Director of Maintenance to forecast labour requirements.
- Communicate with Director of Planning for base workload.
- Ensure invoice is generated and accurate on timely bases.
- Oversee Component SHOP activities.
- Communicate with airport operations to ensure Company is in compliance.
- Collaborate with the customer for maintenance scheduling and planning.
- Reviewing and planning for A and B Check Packages
- Ensure that all deferred aircraft defects are handled in accordance with current company policies and procedures.
- Provide clean work environment.
- Ensure that recognized standards of work are carried out by personnel under their supervision.
- Ensure vehicle are serviceable and records for vehicle inspections are up to date.
- Coordinate and supervise the inspection and rectification of defects and the maintenance, repair, modification, overhaul and alteration of all aircraft and aircraft functions.
- Ensure that maintenance records are completed according to company policy.
- Ensure that maintenance personnel under their supervision have the necessary equipment, facilities and training required to properly accomplish their duties in support of maintenance activities on aircraft and aeronautical products.
- Collaborate with QA and HR for training needs.
- Responsible for timekeeping, overtime, expense approvals and labor detail reporting on a shift-by-shift basis.
- Responsible for health and safety inspections for all work areas, including vehicles, controlled by the company.
- Will assume the role of the Lead, ACA as the need arises.
- Identifying hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for self and others.

- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.

The Following would be considered an asset:
- Possess a Transport Canada AME license, M2, E or S
- Endorsed, via an approved course, on the aircraft type under their supervision.
- Have at least 5 years maintenance experience with an Air Carrier or AMO
- Must be knowledgeable of the provisions set out in the Canadian Aviation Regulations for the proper performance of their duties.
