Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our healthcare team. This role involves supporting pharmacists in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, medication management, and patient interaction, with prior experience in hospital or pharmacy settings preferred. Duties
- Assist pharmacists with dispensing medications accurately and efficiently
- Prepare prescription labels and package medications for patient pick-up or delivery
- Maintain organized inventory of pharmaceuticals, ensuring stock levels are adequate and expired medications are properly disposed of
- Provide excellent patient care by answering questions and offering guidance under pharmacist supervision
- Enter prescription data into pharmacy management systems with precision
- Support medication administration processes as needed, including documentation and record keeping
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including proper handling of pharmaceuticals and adherence to health regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy workspace to promote a safe environment
Qualifications
- Prior experience in hospital or pharmacy technician roles is highly desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration procedures
- Strong commitment to patient care and confidentiality
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team
- Experience with pharmacy management software is a plus
- Certification or training as a pharmacy technician is preferred but not required
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
