Job Overview:
The Logistics Specialist will operationally support the movement of containers for the distribution and export of agricultural commodities. The person in this position will be responsible for analyzing and managing cargo data, preparing the analysis and reports necessary for the execution of contracts, and managing freight invoices and service-provider credit terms. This role also provides support in customer contact and serves as a key liaison between internal teams and external service providers, including shipping lines, freight companies, trans-loaders, and rail carriers.
Responsibilities:
- Reconcile freight invoices against contracted rates and quotations; proactively identify, dispute, and resolve billing discrepancies with service providers.
- Coordinate closely with the Accounts Payable team to plan and program upcoming provider payments.
- Track, measure, and report regularly on credit terms with service providers. Hold weekly or bi-weekly meetings with providers to ensure credit agreements are strictly maintained.
- Navigate service provider websites to record data, file disputes, and retrieve missing logistics information.
- Partner directly with shipping lines, freight companies, trans-loaders, and rail carriers to ensure invoices are received and processed on time.
- Obtain ocean carrier rates from major lines and manage intermodal/hopper car bookings with CP and CN.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date cargo and shipment data in internal systems to support smooth contract execution and corporate reporting.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding shipment status and documentation in a timely, professional manner.
- Generate regular weekly and monthly logistics performance reports as required.
- Participate in freight desk projects and help manage new supply chain initiatives as they arise.
- Identify bottlenecks within current invoice management and logistics workflows and recommend smart, efficient solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in logistics operations. Export experience (rail, truck, container) is highly preferred.
- Existing rapport or experience working with major ocean carriers (e.g., MSC, CMA CGM) is an asset.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with excellent Excel skills required for data analysis.
- Experience with ERP or Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is considered an asset.
- Solid understanding of export documentation, container logistics, and shipping terms (Incoterms) is an asset.

Pay: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
