Main Purpose of Role:
- Possesses solid foundation in basic laboratory techniques and has lab experience working in specific areas such as Flow Cytometry and semen physiology.
- Competent in the operation of multiple semen Sorter units.
- Ability to train or assist individuals who may be assigned to the laboratory on a regular or temporary basis.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently on projects and participate in the creation of special projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including laboratory computers for data entry.
- Participate in daily production of sexed semen with emphasis on sterility and semen quality.
- Perform daily job duties including computer start up, calibration, sort setup and shutdown, cleaning, sterilization and bacterial testing.
- Use of sterile techniques to avoid contaminating any laboratory areas, samples or instrumentation.
- Use of various software applications.
- Follow all safety procedures set forth by ST Genetics Canada.
- Monitor inventory levels and proper storage of materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Keep current knowledge of vendors and suppliers of materials specific to the laboratory requirements.
- Demonstrate proactive approaches to problem solving with strong decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
