Location: Remote, anywhere in Canada
The total target compensation (TTC) range, including salary and target bonus, is $63,600 - $98,580. This TTC range is applicable to permanent roles only. The actual base salary offered within this range will be determined by the successful candidate’s skills and experience, as well as internal equity. Fixed-term contract and casual roles are not eligible for annual bonus and would receive only the base salary component.
Empire Life is looking to hire a Bilingual Distribution Practices Associate (12 Month Contract) to join our Retail Distribution team! We are actively seeking candidates to fill a current, open position.
The Distribution Practices Associate supports the distribution teams in all lines of business by developing and delivering services designed to efficiently promote distribution partner best practices; meet the Company’s regulatory obligations; and manage risk associated with the Company’s distribution channels. The incumbent is guided by defined goals and objectives and works under the general supervision of the Manager, Distribution Practices.

What you’ll be working on
Assist the Distribution Practices team to provide knowledgeable and practical advice to business unit partners concerning distribution matters relating to distribution due diligence, best practices, contracting and monitoring, in respect of prospective, current and former distribution partners to support the Company’s distribution relationships and improve the quality of distribution partner business
Collaborate with Distribution Practices team, participate in implementation of practical solutions designed to support the Company’s compliance with all distribution-related regulatory requirements and industry and corporate standards to help manage the Company’s legal, regulatory, and reputational risk
Assist the Distribution Practices team to provide cost effective distribution risk management support to business units through the development and implementation of compliance and risk management standards and measures designed to enable proactive distribution risk management activities
Assist the Distribution Practices team to provide knowledgeable and practical advice to business unit partners on Distribution Partner compliance requirements
Conduct desk reviews and develop detailed reports on findings and recommendations; forward recommendations to the Distribution Partner and follow up on action plans; collaborate with Distribution Partners regarding the recommendations; provide resource information and assistance for implementation into their practices.
Facilitate communication with sales teams and Distribution Partners on existing, changed or new industry or regulatory requirements that affect their practices
Assist in creating and updating education tools for use by our Distribution Partners, including company compliance website, Distribution Partner Reference Guide, FAQs
Bilingual in both English and French
3+ years work experience in the insurance/financial services industry with hands-on experience in distribution, training or compliance
Knowledge of sales practices and relevant insurance regulation
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, email, internet, and presentation software
Investigative, analytical and decision-making skills
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
Motivation, tact, diplomacy and ability to handle confidential information
Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks or projects
Completion of a university degree with courses in business administration or other applicable discipline
FLMI or AIRC an asset
