Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate tutor who is interested in working with children anywhere within the age range of Grade 1 to University. At this time, we are looking specifically for those who are able to work in-person in the Stouffville area. This role involves providing personalized instruction and support to students in a 1-to-1 setting, helping them achieve their academic goals while prioritizing a positive and engaging learning environment. Please understand tutors will be reached out to with new students on an as-needs basis, but once you are matched with a tutor we expect a commitment to the student's availability as best as you can. Pay scales up with age.
Duties
- Assess students' learning needs and develop tailored lesson plans to address those needs.
- Provide 1-on-1 tutoring sessions in whatever subjects you are qualified for
- Utilize various teaching methods and resources to engage students and enhance their understanding of the material.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as necessary to ensure effective learning outcomes.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
- Support students with special education needs by adapting lessons to meet their unique learning requirements.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging atmosphere that promotes student confidence and motivation.
Skills
- Proficiency in the subject you are comfortable tutoring (must be in school or have a relevant degree)
- Experience working with children in tutoring or classroom settings, demonstrating patience and adaptability.
- Strong organizational skills to manage lesson plans, student progress tracking, and communication with parents.
- Ability to educate effectively while creating an engaging learning environment tailored to individual student needs.
- Familiarity with special education practices such as ADHD/autism is a plus but not required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to facilitate clear interactions with students and parents alike.
