Tamminga Enterprises is seeking a dependable Pipelayer to join our field crew. Working alongside our labourers and heavy equipment operators, your expertise will ensure that site services are installed safely, accurately, and efficiently to meet municipal specifications.
This position is ideal for a dedicated pipelayer who takes pride in quality work and is capable of safe, accurate, and efficient installation of underground infrastructure for storm, sanitary sewer, and watermain systems. Previous experience with watermain installation and familiarity with the commissioning process is expected. The successful candidate will be proficient in checking slopes, securing trenches, and assisting with municipal testing protocols. The pipelayer will also play a vital role in maintaining safety standards while collaborating closely with the crew to keep projects on schedule. Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Install and align watermain, sanitary, and storm sewer pipe systems according to blueprints, grades, and specifications to ensure proper installation
- Actively participate in the watermain commissioning process, including hydrostatic pressure testing, main flushing, swabbing, chlorination, and assisting with water sampling procedures as required
- Responsible for the installation of pipe and precast structures while ensuring joint integrity, proper alignments and accurate grades
- Perform physically demanding work including working in trenches, hand digging, and installing trench boxes/shoring systems while adhering to all safety protocols
- Complete required safety documentation, inspections, and daily paperwork
- Ensure all work completed meets plan specifications, elevations, and municipal requirements
- Perform parging of manholes and catch basins, bedding, backfilling, compaction, grading activities, and other duties as assigned
- Maintain a strong focus on health and safety, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures
Requirements and Qualifications
- 3-5 years of pipelaying experience with a proven track record of watermain installation
- Experience with watermain commissioning protocols (testing, chlorination, and flushing) preferred
- Strong understanding of trench safety and excavation procedures including best practices for trenching, shoring, bedding, backfilling, and compaction
- Ability to read and accurately interpret drawings and specifications
- Must be capable of performing heavy physical labor for extended periods in variable outdoor weather conditions
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- A Valid Ontario Driver’s License with reliable transportation to get to shop/jobsites is required
