Con-Tech General Contractors Ltd. is seeking a Utility Operator to join our Civil/Underground construction team. The successful candidate will support underground utility installation, excavation, backfilling, grading, and general site operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, dozers and other construction equipment.
- Assist with the installation and repair of water, sewer, stormwater, and related underground utilities.
- Excavate trenches and prepare bedding to the required line, grade, and elevation.
- Perform backfilling, compaction, grading, and site restoration.
- Safely expose and work around existing underground utilities.
- Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Follow site plans, grade stakes, drawings, and instructions from supervisors.
- Work closely with pipelayers, surveyors, spotters, and other equipment operators.
- Maintain safe access, housekeeping, and traffic-control measures around the work area.
- Follow all company values, policies, safe work procedures, and OH&S requirements.
- Perform general labour duties when equipment operation is not required.
Qualifications
- Previous civil construction or underground utility experience is preferred.
- Experience operating excavators, loaders, skid steers, or similar equipment.
- Knowledge of water, sewer, and storm utility construction is an asset.
- Ability to understand grades, elevations, ground conditions, and safe excavation practices.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- 1A driver’s license is an asset
- Physically capable of working outdoors in varying weather and ground conditions.
- Willingness to travel or work out of town when required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a crew.
- Must be a Canadian citizen for min 3 years

Pay: $25.00-$40.00 per hour
