Demand Planning Strategist (CPG)
Position Type: Permanent/Full-time
Location: Vaughan, ON (Hybrid; 3 days on-site)
Compensation: $95,000 to $105,000/Annually + Vacation + Benefits + RRSP
We are assisting our client, a Canadian manufacturer specializing in home improvement products, in hiring a Demand Planning Strategist. This high-impact, individual contributor role owns the development, governance, and continuous improvement of forecasting models, demand planning processes, and the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) demand review.
Key Responsibilities
1. Forecast Strategy & Leadership
- End-to-End Ownership: Manage the full forecasting lifecycle, ensuring alignment with corporate supply chain goals.
- Strategic Modeling: Develop short, mid, and long-term forecasts using statistical models, predictive analytics, and business intelligence.
- Risk & Scenario Planning: Lead demand scenario modeling to support supply chain resilience and identify structural demand drivers (pricing shifts, market growth, etc.).
- Governance: Establish standards and best practices for forecasting across all product lines.
2. Advanced Analytics & Data Insights
- Predictive Modeling: Implement time-series, regression, and machine learning techniques to uncover demand signals from ERP, CRM, and POS data.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor forecast accuracy (MAPE, bias, FVA) and lead root-cause analysis for continuous improvement.
- Executive Reporting: Design dashboards and demand analytics to translate complex data into actionable narratives for senior leadership.
3. S&OP & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- S&OP Facilitation: Lead the Demand Review process, facilitating consensus between Sales, Finance, and Operations.
- Integrated Planning: Partner with Marketing and Sales to integrate promotions and product launches into the forecast.
- Operational Alignment: Translate forecasts into actionable signals for production planning and procurement to optimize working capital.
4. Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Digital Transformation: Modernize forecasting tools and lead the optimization of ERP/MRP and demand planning software.
- Capability Building: Develop SOPs, playbooks, and training materials to elevate the organization's planning maturity.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Statistics, or Engineering. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- Experience: 7+ years in demand planning or supply chain analytics, specifically within manufacturing or CPG environments.
- Strategic Background: Proven experience building or leading S&OP/IBP processes and implementing advanced forecasting frameworks.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Systems: Strong experience with ERP/MRP (SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics).
- Data Tools: Advanced Excel is required; Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or Python is highly preferred.
- Analytics: Deep knowledge of time-series forecasting and MAPE/bias measurement.
- Communication: Ability to influence executive stakeholders and translate technical insights into business recommendations.
The indicated pay range is a good‑faith estimate based on required qualifications, experience, training, and other factors permitted by law. It reflects the pay band established by the client company. Actual offers may vary depending on skills, experience, geographic location, and expected work quality.
