The Wetaskiwin School Division is hiring for two full time positions in the city of Wetaskiwin. We are looking for dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as full time Family School Liaison Workers (FSLW).

About the Role
As a Family School Liaison Worker, you will play a key role in creating welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe learning environments where every student has the opportunity to succeed. Working closely with schools, families, and community partners, you will provide direct support to vulnerable students while helping families access the services and resources they need.
Your work will include:
- Building positive, trusting relationships with students and families.
- Providing counselling support, crisis intervention, and referrals to community agencies.
- Developing and implementing suicide intervention and safety plans when required.
- Supporting the completion of violent threat and risk assessments.
- Advocating for students and families within schools and the community.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized supports.
- Promoting student wellness across the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive domains.
- Supporting schools in creating inclusive learning environments where all students can thrive.

Preference will be given to a candidate who possesses the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma/Certificate in Social Sciences with eligibility to register as a Social Worker
- Minimum 3 year's successful experience working with at risk children, youth and families
- Firm understanding of child welfare authority systems and processes, knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity, family dynamics, and an understanding and respect for First Nations culture
- Strong ability to quickly develop rapport with children, youth and families
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to make an high level of sound and independent judgment/decisions, reasoning and discretion under difficult and stressful situations
- Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully and professionally at all times
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal, prioritization and organizational skills that allows one to work effectively in diverse working environments and effectively accommodate unexpected urgencies
- Demonstrated commitment to advocating for children/family needs
- Experience with Google email, apps and other emerging technologies
- Commitment to the Health and Safety Program and training as prescribed by the Board

Pay: $30.96-$41.05 per hour
