Maintenance Technician Job Summary:
If you want to put your highly capable mechanical skills to use, consider joining our team at the Wyndham Edmonton Hotel & Conference Centre as a Shift Engineer / Maintenance Technician. Our Hotel is interested in hiring someone with a vast knowledge of hotel, building, electrical, and mechanical systems. You will use your skillset to assist in the improvement of our property, by troubleshooting various issues, repairing and maintaining the building, mechanical, electrical, and hotel equipment and systems. You would be working in a fast-paced hospitality setting, where every day is unique and interesting. Your focus on following all safety guidelines, maintenance schedules, manufacturer’s recommendations and other best practices will help you find a high level of success in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance and complete work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, painting etc., to maintain the hotel in accordance with brand standards.
- Check & troubleshoot electrical issues such as thermostats, heat pumps, television sets, lighting systems, phone systems, etc. and make minor repairs and/or replacement when required.
- Check and make routine repairs and assist on major repairs of all hotel equipment including small appliances, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC (heat pumps), hand and power tools and general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipe lines, toilets and sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment.
- Maintain the building exterior and "curb appeal" (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting, gardening, pressure washing, etc.).
- Refurbish and maintain furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors windows and counters. Paint and finish furniture and fixtures as needed.
- Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
- Perform regular testing and maintenance of swimming pool and hot tub.(Certified Pool Operator Certification (CPO) an asset).
- Coordinate any repair work with Housekeeping Department and/or other departments as necessary.
- Communicates room status changes to the Guest Services and Housekeeping Departments in the event of damages or repairs requiring rooms to be out of service.
- Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years’ experience in building maintenance within a Hotel environment preferred.
- Be skilled in several areas such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, painting, roofing, and landscaping.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in hotel systems and equipment.
- Must be willing and able to respond to maintenance issues and complaints.
- Must be willing and able to assist other departments when required.
- Climbing, reading, standing, walking and routinely lifting 25 lbs to 50 lbs.
- Ability to understand and follow directions, and perform job functions under limited supervision.
- Must be able to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act accordingly.
- Fluent in English (written and oral).
- Must be able to work varied work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Strong problem solving, analytical, creative thinking, attention to detail and decision-making skills

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
