We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Estimator/Planner to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong manufacturing background who can accurately interpret engineering drawings, estimate manufacturing costs, and develop efficient production plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer RFQs, and set 48–72 hour turnaround target for engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints, GD&T, and technical documentation.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for CNC machining, fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing projects and remove under pricing risks
- Determine material requirements, machining processes, tooling, setup times, cycle times, and labour costs.
- Develop production routings and manufacturing plans to ensure efficient workflow.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, and Quality departments to ensure project feasibility.
- Source materials and outside processing costs from suppliers when required.
- Maintain estimating databases, costing records, and standard manufacturing times.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.
- Assist with scheduling priorities and production planning to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Participate in customer meetings to clarify technical requirements and support quotation development.
- Have experience in opening and closing sales.
- Be able to provide and communicate very well with current, new and potential clients.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing estimating, production planning, CNC machining, or a related role.
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Demonstrated experience as a cost estimator in a manufacturing environment, with the ability to accurately calculate material costs, machining times, labour, tooling, outside processing, overhead, and total production costs.
- Solid understanding of CNC machining processes, injection moulding, subassemblies, 3D Printing methods, and production workflows.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Experience estimating machining times, tooling, materials, and labour.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems is considered an asset.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience within aerospace, defense, hydrogen technologies, or precision manufacturing.
- CRM and software’s such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD is an asset.
Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
