Job Summary
We are on the lookout for a skilled and reliable Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our maintenance team. In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment and industrial machinery. Whether it’s working on construction vehicles, farm machinery, or industrial equipment, your mechanical expertise will keep operations running smoothly. The ideal candidate is passionate about machinery, enjoys hands-on work, and has a knack for troubleshooting complex systems to get equipment back in action quickly.
Duties
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, bulldozers, and tractors.
- Use schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems accurately.
- Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, and alignment adjustments.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, cutting, and hand tools to ensure equipment functions optimally.
- Repair transmissions, shocks & struts, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC systems, and other critical components.
- Operate heavy machinery safely during repair procedures and assist in heavy lifting tasks with appropriate equipment like forklifts or cranes.
- Maintain detailed service records and communicate effectively with team members to ensure timely completion of repairs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or Service Technician with dealership experience preferred. Journeyperson certification.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and automotive diagnostics.
- Hands-on skills with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; familiarity with power tools is essential.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals accurately.
- Experience working on farm machinery, industrial equipment, or vehicle maintenance is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a safety-conscious mindset during all repair activities.
