Toromont Cat Power Systems is looking for an Industrial Shop Technician to join our team! The Industrial Technician will be responsible for supporting our customers with superior service and product expertise to safely and effectively modify and customize Caterpillar Industrial Engines per engineered drawings and instructions in a timely manner while maintain high standards and ensuring positive customer experiences.

In a typical day, YOU will:
- Demonstrate safe and environmentally sound work behaviours at all times in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policy, Programs and initiatives
- Prepare new products and customize them as per the customer specification, mostly Caterpillar or Perkins brand industrial engines, power generator, engine control panels, wiring and junction boxes. And also used engine, marine engine, genset, controls and other auxiliary equipment such as torque converter, transmission.
- Troubleshoot relevant CAT/Perkins equipment, including on-site at customer locations, consult with engineering to support root cause analysis, and deliver corrective actions and recommendations to OEMs and engineering.
- Conduct pre-job hazard assessments, prepare and sort the parts required prior to performing work
- Conduct and document detailed failure analyses, and provide comprehensive service reports outlining root cause, repair recommendations, and corrective actions.
- Use electrical and mechanical testing and calibrating equipment to diagnose and service equipment
- Interpret mechanical drawing, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Report any modification done on the drawings and update parts list accordingly
- Investigate and adjust control settings and parameters on engines / control panel
- Submit accurate reports, time cards and other required paperwork in a timely manner
Must-haves for this role:
- Diploma of vocational studies in diesel or electro mechanics
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with a solid understanding of diesel engine and its controls
