Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Plainsman Clays Ltd. is seeking an individual to join our Team as a Shipping and Receiving Clerk. The ideal candidate will have proven experience with duties like handling, packing, and shipping orders, as well as receiving and inspecting incoming shipments. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and organized. This role is critical to our logistics operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all goods. The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player with strong organizational and communication skills.
Plainsman Clays Ltd. is a clay mining and processing company located in Medicine Hat, Alberta Canada. Our select-mined clays have been specifically designed for pottery related uses since 1962. The raw materials are processed at the plant in Medicine Hat, Alberta and prepared to be distributed to three Subsidiaries and approximately seven retail dealers throughout Canada and the United States. There are approximately thirty employees between the three Subsidiaries that are the heart of our operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Shipping and Receiving Co-ordinator, the Shipping and Receiving Clerk will:
· Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments, verifying contents against packing slips and purchase orders.
· Inspect goods for damage or discrepancies and report any issues.
· Accurately record shipment data for inventory, accounting, and reporting.
· Pick, pack, seal, and label outgoing shipments according to specifications.
· Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading and shipping orders.
· Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment to move materials safely.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· 1+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Experience operating forklifts or other heavy machinery is a plus.
