Theatre Program Lead for After School Programs – Performing Arts
Part-Time | Approx. 2–3 hours/week between 2:30pm-5:30pm.
Rise Arts Company is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and dependable Theatre Program Lead to join our growing team across Metro Vancouver. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in theatre and youth programming who is excited to inspire creativity, confidence, and collaboration through performing arts.
This position involves directing a 10 month theatre program, creating engaging lesson plans, guiding students through rehearsals, and supporting a culminating student performance. We are looking for someone who brings strong leadership, energy, and professionalism and who understands the importance of consistency and creating a positive experience for students and families. The program will take place at an Elementary School in New Westminster.
Qualifications:
- Background and experience in drama, theatre, performing arts, and/or acting
- Experience working with children and youth (ages 6–14 preferred)
- Experience lesson planning and leading engaging activities, classes, or rehearsals
- Comfortable facilitating theatre games, acting exercises, script work, movement activities, and performance preparation
- Comfortable leading programs with 15–25+ participants (assistant instructors may be provided for larger groups)
- Must possess strong classroom management and group leadership skills
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate with managers, co-workers, school staff, parents, and students
- Must be highly reliable, responsible, punctual, organized, and proactive
- Must demonstrate strong professional communication and follow-through
- Must be comfortable taking initiative and problem-solving independently when needed
- Ability to create a safe, welcoming, and encouraging environment where children and youth feel comfortable taking creative risks
- Candidates seeking a long-term role and able to commit consistently throughout the school year are strongly preferred
- Must be committed from September - June, with a potential late August start for staff training and onboarding
Program Responsibilities:
- Lead a weekly, after school theatre program throughout the school year
- Create and implement engaging lesson plans and theatre activities
- Foster student confidence, teamwork, creativity, and performance skills
- Guide students through rehearsals and preparation for a culminating performance or production
- Collaborate with Rise Arts leadership regarding programming and production planning
- Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to create a positive experience for students and site partners

Program schedule and locations to be finalized. The program will take place once a week between 2:30pm-5:30pm.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Current Standard First Aid + CPR C certification preferred
- Driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
- Must successfully complete and pass a Police Information Check specific to working with vulnerable sectors
