Who You Are
We’re looking for an Associate Advisor to join our growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone who’s motivated, people-oriented, and eager to grow in private wealth management. In this role, you will manage and grow an established portfolio of existing clients, with a primary focus on delivering exceptional advice and identifying opportunities within current relationships rather than emphasizing new client acquisition.
Your Qualifications and Skills
- Hold the CSC-based IIROC registration and are eligible for CIRO registration transfer or reactivation, or are early in your career and committed to completing the CIRO licensing pathway (including the CIRE), within 3 months
- 3 to 5 years of experience providing financial advice and client service within a wealth management environment
- LLQP Life License is an asset
- PFP, QAFP, or CFP designation is an asset (the successful candidate will be expected to work toward obtaining the CFP designation)
- Proven ability to build client relationships and recommend investment solutions that help clients achieve their financial goals
- Friendly, professional, and personable, with the ability to build trust-based relationships and adapt to clients' evolving needs
- Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and proactive, with the initiative to remain productive and identify opportunities during both busy and quieter periods
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking abilities
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling information
- Proficient with technology including expertise in Microsoft Office 365 (Teams, OneDrive, Excel, Word, Outlook)
Critical Accountabilities
Client Servicing
- Participate in joint client meetings with the Principal Advisor and progressively transition into the lead advisor role for appropriate client relationships
- Build, manage, and strengthen long-term client relationships through proactive, high-quality service
- Conduct ongoing reviews of client portfolios to identify changing needs and ensure recommendations remain aligned with clients' objectives
- Implement portfolio changes, including fund switches, portfolio rebalancing and other investment transactions.
Wealth Management & Financial Planning
- Construct and analyze investment portfolios using Morningstar and other research tools
- Analyze investment funds and managers to support ongoing portfolio recommendations and due diligence
- Recommend appropriate insurance solutions, including life, critical illness, disability, and segregated funds (for candidates holding the LLQP licence)
- Conduct financial reviews, retirement projections, and cash flow analysis
- Identify client goals, financial risks, and planning opportunities
- Gather, input, and analyze client information using financial planning software
- Prepare and present personalized financial plans and wealth management recommendations
CRM Management
- Maintain accurate client records including notes, documents, and follow-ups
- Record client interactions consistently
- Implement onboarding and welcome processes
- Implement client contact strategies and service standards
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with your existing centres of influence
Compliance
- Ensure all client records, KYC information, CRM3 requirements, and regulatory documentation remain accurate, current, and compliant with CIRO and firm standards.
What success looks like
- Clients feel confident and cared for because they receive proactive, personalized advice.
- Existing client relationships deepen through regular reviews and thoughtful recommendations.
- Financial plans and investment recommendations are delivered accurately, professionally, and on time.
- Client retention remains high while assets under administration grow within the existing client base.
Base Salary
$80,000–$115,000 depending on experience, licensing, and qualifications. As your responsibilities, client relationships, and professional designations grow, there is a clear path to increased compensation and long-term career development.
