Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Painter to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying paint, coatings, and finishes to various surfaces, ensuring high-quality standards and safety compliance. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where mechanical knowledge and proficiency with hand and power tools are essential. Prior experience in manufacturing, machining, or assembly is a plus, along with familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
Duties
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and masking as needed
- Apply primers, paints, stains, and finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment
- Operate machinery such as cranes and forklifts to move materials safely around the work area
- Use hand tools and power tools to perform surface preparation and finishing tasks
- Conduct quality checks to ensure coatings are applied evenly and meet specifications
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of waste properly
- Assist with assembly or machining tasks when required
- Follow safety protocols including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste
Experience
- Previous experience in painting within a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred
- Mechanical knowledge related to machinery operation and maintenance is advantageous
- Familiarity with welding, machining, or assembly processes is a plus
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and surface preparation equipment effectively
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations during application processes
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to promote continuous improvement
- Experience operating cranes or forklifts is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be provided if needed
