Tekdata Metal Solutions is looking for a motivated Sheet Metal Worker/Laser Operator eager to develop their skills and grow within our fabrication team.
This position is primarily focused on sheet metal fabrication and press brake operation, including bending, forming, and operating fabrication equipment. The role also includes supporting laser cutting operations during production.
Whether you already have laser cutting experience or are eager to learn, we provide on-site training on Amada laser systems delivered by certified professionals.
You will play a key role in ensuring production accuracy, quality, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints – Required
- Perform sheet metal fabrication tasks including cutting, bending, and forming metal using shears, press brakes, and related equipment
- Work with a variety of materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and brass
- Perform quality inspections using precision measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and height gauges in both imperial and metric systems
- Perform routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting
- Operate Amada laser cutting machines safely and efficiently
- Load materials and monitor cutting programs during production
- Perform basic machine setups and adjustments
- Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Experience using precision measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, gauges, etc.)
- Experience operating sheet metal fabrication equipment, including press brakes and shears
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Good manual dexterity and versatility in metal fabrication tasks
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills
- Problem-solving mindset with a strong sense of initiative and accountability
- Self-motivated, resourceful, and dependable
- Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and urgent production requirements
- Experience with laser cutting equipment (Amada or similar) is considered an asset
- Basic understanding of laser parameters (focus, speed, power) is considered an asset
- Ability to perform basic laser machine setups and adjustments is considered an asset
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication
- Diploma in Precision Sheet Metal Fabrication (DEP) or equivalent experience (Required)
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints (Required)
- Strong hands-on fabrication skills and versatility in metalworking
- Laser cutting experience is considered an asset (training provided)
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
