Duties
The student is expected to contribute to research that will help to quantifying carbon impacts of land-use change and management of swamp ecosystems in Canada. Duties and responsibilities will include compiling existing data and knowledge, collecting new field data, processing samples, analysing results, and preparing manuscripts.
Limited travel may be involved.
The project will open opportunities for a student to contribute to greenhouse monitoring and reporting, work with a team of experts in geosciences, land use change and agroforestry.
Work environment
The student will work with the Pollutant Inventory and Reporting Division of Environment and Climate Change Canada to support critical research on greenhouse gas emissions and removals as a result of management and land-use change of inland swamps.

Education:
Currently enrolled or willing to enroll in a MSc program in the Geography or Environmental Sciences department at a Canadian University with specialization in swamp ecosystems and carbon cycling with a full-time student status.

Experience:
Experience* in field data collection in wetland environments such as soil carbon and biomass sampling, and water table data required.
Experience* in R programming language.
Experience* in carbon storage dynamics.
