Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Compensation Specialist to join our client's Human Resources team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and managing compensation programs that attract, motivate, and retain top talent. This position requires a strong understanding of HRIS systems, data analysis, and payroll platforms, with an emphasis on ensuring compliance and competitiveness within our industry. The Compensation Specialist will collaborate across departments to support organizational goals and promote employee engagement through effective compensation strategies.

Salary: $70,000 – $75,000 CAD + Benefits + 2 Weeks Vacation
Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director, Special Projects (Operations), the Compensation & Benefits Specialist is responsible for end-to-end payroll administration and benefits coordination in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This role serves as the primary point of control for payroll accuracy, employee data integrity, and benefits administration while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. It also supports labor tracking, reporting, and HR-related administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities: Payroll Administration (70%)
- Process weekly payroll for all employees (hourly and salaried)
- Maintain payroll accuracy through validation and approvals
- Enter new hires into ADP, including department, location, and job codes
- Coordinate and submit hours to temporary staffing agencies
- Prepare payroll reports and obtain management approvals
- Process manual payroll adjustments and maintain records
- Issue ROEs and prepare year-end T4s
- Maintain strict confidentiality of employee compensation and personal data
Benefits Administration (10%)
- Enroll new employees in applicable benefit plans
- Maintain and update employee benefit records (changes, terminations, salary updates)
- Act as the primary contact for employee benefits inquiries
HR & Administrative Support (20%)
- Administer FOB/security access cards for employees
- Maintain and update access levels in security systems
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of payroll and benefits files
- Track and monitor employee absences
Core Accountability
- Act as the single source of truth for payroll inputs, attendance, and labor data
- Ensure all payroll data is accurate, approved, and submitted on time
- Maintain compliance with payroll legislation and internal controls
- Support operational reporting and workforce data integrity
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of payroll and/or benefits experience
- Experience in a manufacturing or high-volume environment preferred
- PCP or CPM designation (preferred or in progress)
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems (ADP experience preferred)
