Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Summer Students to join our educational team for 9 week positions. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering a nurturing learning environment for young children and supporting their developmental needs. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's early education, working with diverse learners including those with disabilities. The teacher will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans, managing classroom activities, and collaborating with colleagues and families to promote positive educational experiences.
Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum aligned with early childhood education standards
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages learning and social development
- Conduct daily activities that promote cognitive, emotional, and physical growth
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members regarding progress and needs
- Manage classroom behavior using positive reinforcement strategies
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and classroom activities using computer skills and organizational skills
- Collaborate with special education professionals to support children with disabilities or additional learning needs
- Incorporate bilingual instruction when applicable to support language development in English and French
- Lead by example in demonstrating leadership qualities and time management skills during daily routines
Requirements
- Must be between 16 - 30 years of age
- Proven experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting
- Formal training in early childhood education or related field; certifications preferred
- Strong communication skills in English
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is desirable
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Demonstrated classroom experience with effective teaching strategies
- Ability to use computer operation tools for record keeping and lesson planning
- Strong writing skills for documentation and communication purposes
- Ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds, including families from various cultural contexts
