JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Driver
REPORTING TO: Logistics Manager

General Accountability
Reporting directly to the Logistics Manager, the Driver is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods to our clients. The Driver will be tasked with driving and maintaining trucks that are assigned, as well as to plan routes and track deliveries.
Specific Accountabilities:
- Plan routes using GPS system
- Complete Daily Truck Inspections, and report issues to Logistics Manager
- Follow traffic laws
- Ensure that product arrives in good condition to the client on time
- Load and unload cargo at different locations, using pump cart or dolly as needed
- Keep an activity log and log hours daily
- Take payment/handle cash as needed
- Record deliveries and complete/submit daily paperwork
- Refuel and clean vehicle
- Oil doors on trucks weekly
- Report road incidents to the Logistics Manager, and if needed follow accident procedures
- Report mechanical or reefer problems to Logistics Manager
- Maintain adherence to product quality and safety standards
- Maintain a positive attitude with clients
- Keep commercial driver license up to date
- Follow policies and GMP’s
- Other duties as required
Skill and Attributes:
- Positive outlook with a history of proven dependability and commitment
- Highly organized
- Willingness to strictly adhere to company policies and procedures
- Ability to work well under pressure, employing effective decision-making (judgment) under sometimes stressful and unpredictable circumstances (traffic, weather conditions etc.)
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with customers and dispatchers
- Moderate physical effort is required to manually load and unload material, secure load, place crossers and step on and off forklift (if properly licensed)
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Qualifications, Education, Experience:
- High school diploma
- Commercial driver license (DZ)
- Must have clean driving record
- Provide a current CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre) check
- 3+ years professional driving experience or related work experience
- Forklift certification (Not Required, but experience is helpful)
Working Conditions:
Physical Effort: Work activities require frequent periods of physical effort. Work includes frequent bending, lifting, and carrying large, awkward or heavy objects with required ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Physical Environment: Work environment contains exposure to mild unpleasant or disagreeable conditions with a remote possibility of risk of accident or health hazards.
Sensory Attention: Work activities involve need to concentrate for intermediate durations at a time with some tasks requiring close attention. The need for detailed or precise work is moderate.
Mental Stress: Frequent exposure to mental pressure conditions where mental stress would be noticeable (e.g. traffic, weather conditions).
